EFI is a multi disciplinary engineering firm providing services to clients in the commercial, industrial and municipal sectors.
EFI Engineering is looking for an experienced and highly motivated individual who can ensure the success of our team of electrical engineers and technologists. This role requires a leader who is passionate about engineering and business development, and has the necessary experience to help EFI achieve its goals.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership to the electrical engineering team including:
- Develop and implement strategies to improve the effectiveness of the team.
- Lead business development activities including establishing and maintaining relationships with clients and vendors.
- Oversee the daily operations of the department, including budgeting, scheduling and project management.
- Monitor and assess employee performance and provide feedback to ensure that the team is meeting departmental goals.
- Recruit and train team members as needed.
- Leverage knowledge and experience with projects in HV, LV, controls, MCCs, VFDs, starters etc. to plan and design electrical, electronic and control systems for industrial and commercial applications.
- Develop technical drawings, detailed schematics, reports and specifications for electrical projects. Perform calculations to determine the appropriate size and type of electrical components.
- Prepare and review technical drawings, schematics, and related documents for accuracy and conformance to standards including Canadian Electric Code,OESC, ESA, NEC, OHSA, building code, fire code etc. Coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain necessary permits and approvals.
- Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring clear communication throughout project development and execution.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure that all project requirements are met.
- Monitor project progress and budget to ensure timely completion and cost-effectiveness. Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical support and guidance to enhance their professional development.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and emerging technologies, and contribute to the firm’s continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, identifying best practices, and recommending process improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registered with the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
- A minimum of 10 years of electrical engineering experience including managing teams, business development, engineering design and project management experience.
- Working knowledge of CAD software.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
- Must be able and willing to travel to the United States.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present complex engineering concepts to clients and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven track record of successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
